7th Day Adventists don't teach that there isn't a spiritual afterlife. They teach that our spiritual afterlife doesn't begin until Christ's second coming.

It makes perfects sense if you consider how foolish it would be for believers to be placed back in their graves only to be resurrected at the second coming.
1 Thessalonians 4:16

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
